The selected films provide insight into the experiences of black people across the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/calgaryblackfilm.com\/\">The Calgary Film Festival <\/a>is scheduled to hold from the 26<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 30<sup>th<\/sup> of May 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The movie, \u201cGone\u201d is an emotional and dramatic thriller set in Lagos and New York City. The film follows the story of Ani, who leaves his wife, toddler and unborn child back in Nigeria as he searches for a better life in New York as a boxer.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ani gets trapped with the mob and spends 25 solid years in jail, leaving his estranged family to believe he is dead. He later returns to Nigeria, determined to reunite with his family, only to discover a new reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The film features some of Nollywood finest veterans such as Sam Dede, Gbenga Atitiloye and Stellar Damascus. Other Nollywood stars include Gabriel Afolayan, Bimbo Ademoye, Sophie Alakija, Emma Oh My God, Ada Ameh, Bimbo Manuel, and Adejumoke Aderounmu.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cGone\u201d is produced by Joy Odiete and Daniel Ademonikan and directed by Daniel Ademonikan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">This is not the film\u2019s first international film festival selection. The movie was recently selected to screen at the Halifax Black Film Festival.
