Anne-Marie Ore-Ofe Imafidon
Anne-Marie Ore-Ofe Imafidon is an exceptional star who has broken several records and has been honoured with many firsts. At the young age of 11, she became the youngest girl ever in Britain to pass the A-level examination in computing and moving forward, she started Stemettes in 2013, an award-winning social enterprise that encourages girls to pursue careers in Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Annie-Marie Imafidon leads Stemettes as Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer. She holds workshops where young women are shown that Mathematics is nothing to be afraid of and since its inception, the organization has helped over 50,000 girls to realize their STEM potential.
Anne-Marie Imafidon’s wealth of experience and pioneering spirit also led her to co-found Outbox Incubator, the world’s first tech incubator for teenage girls, supporting many young entrepreneurs in advancing their careers.
For Anne-Marie, it is about showing young girls how to approach scientific challenges with confidence. A true model and prodigy in mathematics, computer science, and languages, Anne-Marie speaks six languages fluently and is recognized as one of Oxford University’s youngest graduate, where she received her master’s degree at the age of 20.
The Stemettes founder has an enviable educational background. She holds a bachelor and master’s degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Oxford, and an Honorary Doctorate from the Open University, Glasgow Caledonian University, University of Kent and the University of Bristol. She as well holds honorary fellowship at Keble College, Oxford and serves as a Visiting Professor at the University of Sunderland.

Anne-Marie worked for companies such as Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Hewlett Packard and Lehman Brothers before going on to work on Stemettes, organizing workshops for young girls between the ages of five and 22, and further encouraging them to pursue careers in STEM. In 2016, she launched Stemettes STEM resources app, which is used by thousands of Stemettes school club members. Anne-Marie has led several Stemettes events in various countries, with teenagers receiving mentorship from recognized institutions.
Anne-Maries’s efforts in the tech space is truly laudable. She has been honored with several awards and recognitions including the British Computer Society (BCS) Young IT professional of the year 2013, Red Magazine’s Woman of the Year award in 2014, and the Prime Minister’s Point of Light award, also in 2014.
A respected thought-leader in tech and trustee at the Institute for the Future of Work, Anne-Marie was inducted into the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in the 2017 New Year Honours for her outstanding service in STEM, making her the youngest inductee from the field of natural sciences since 1980. In the year 2020 and 2021 she was included in the annual Powerlist of the 100 most influential people in the UK of African/African Caribbean descent and received the Suffrage Science award in 2020.
Anne-Marie’s vision is to create a more diverse and balanced science and technology community. She is an inspiration to women all over the world.
