Ajayi Tajudeen Announced Winner of the 59th Lagos Open Golf Championship

Ajayi Tajudeen, Ikoyi Club based category-1 amateur golfer has won the 59th edition of the Lagos Open Golf Championship sponsored by First Bank. Ajayi Tajudeen closed with 1-under par 70 for a total of 7-over the course par to win the championship by two-shots, after 56-holes.

Excited at the golf tourney, Ajayi adduced his success to hard work. He stated that there is no shortcut to success, a reason he practised a lot for the tournament. With his victory, Ajayi replaces Peter Eben-Spiff in the FirstBank Open winners list.

Playing 4-shots adrift towards the final round, Ajayi recorded bogey-free 18-holes to record higher moves ahead of the overnight leader, Gabriel Ejembi, who carded a closing 76 for 9-over the course par, over 56-holes to beat club-mate to the second position.

Assuming the third position was Tochukwu Emuwa, at 14-over. Tochukwu Emuwa opened his game with 76, proceeding to a second-round score of 75, and a closing 74 to duck in the third position.

Olusegun Emmanuel came fourth at the tournament while Junior Champion, Osiregbeme Egbakhumeh completed the top five in the R&A and USGA sanctioned championship.

Proud of the outcome of the competition, The Chief Risk Officer of FirstBank, Olusegun Alebiosu, representing the bank’s Chief Executive Officer emphasized on the bank’s continuous support for the championship.

The Open Golf Championship was organized in full compliance with the Federal Government COVID-19 protocols.
