Huge Win for Burna Boy and Wizkid at the 63rd Grammys
A few months into the year and Nigerian stars are astounding us globally with accomplishments of epic proportions. Our own superstars, Burna Boy and Wizkid have brought the distinguished Grammy awards home, blazing the trail across the African continent.
The 63rd Grammy Premiere Ceremony hosted by Jhene Aiko, which held on the 14th of March 2021 in Los Angeles was all shades of fun and sparks. The event featured enthralling performances from the well deserved African Giant, Burna Boy as well as other notable Grammy nominees across the globe.
The Afrobeats giant’s album ‘Twice as Tall’ won the Grammy award for Best Global Music Album, earning him his first Grammy award, while the Twice as Tall album becomes the first Afrobeats album to win at the Grammys. Burna Boy won the award over records by Antibalas (FU Chronicles), Bebel Gilberto (Agora), Anoushka Shankar (Love Letters), and Tinariwen (Amadjar).
Nigeria’s most decorated artiste ever, and one of the most revolutionary Afro-pop artist, Wizkid won an award in the Best Music Video category for his feature in Beyonce’s Brown Skin Girl.
