Njideka Udochi Receives Award for Covid-19 Community Engagement and Response in the USA
Njideka Udochi, a Nigerian medical doctor practising in the United States has received a major award for Covid-19 community engagement and response in Howard County, Maryland, USA. The award, a whopping sum of $65,000 comes barely three months after she was recognized as Maryland’s Family Physician of the Year by the Maryland Academy of Family Physicians in the United States.
Responding to this feat, Njideka Udochi stated that the award couldn’t have come at a better time. She noted the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic on families, especially people of colour whilst emphasizing the importance of child vaccination as one of the authentic ways to tackle the effects of the virus. Njideka Udochi intends to use the $65,000 grant to help increase access and engage children and families of BIPOC in vaccinations.
Njideka is the Medical Director of Millennium Family Practice and President of Millennium Health Group, Columbia, Maryland. She is empathetic as well as highly competent. While other doctors focus on moving patients through as quickly as possible, Dr Njideka prioritizes having compassionate, quality care.

Before starting Millennium Family Practice, Dr Njideka was employed by Mercy Medical Center and served as the Medical Director of HCH in Baltimore City. She is certified in HIV Medicine and has experience in Addiction Medicine.
Dr Njideka has over 33 years of experience with a proven track record in the medical field. She graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria and holds a master’s degree in Public Health from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr Njideka is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
As a health care provider, she strives to treat all her patients as if they were her family. She cares for many, including immigrants and homeless people. She is the younger sister to Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the current Director-General of the World Trade Organization.
