Popular Nigerian Dancer, Kaffy Conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree for Being a Dance Pioneer in Africa
Nigerian star dancer, dance instructor, choreographer and fitness coach, Kafayat Shafau-Ameh, popularly known as Kaffy has been conferred with a doctorate degree for her remarkable role in the African dance industry. Kaffy is also the Chief Executive Officer of The Imagneto Dance Company. She was decorated by Escae Benin University in recognition for her role as the pioneer in the African dance industry.
Excited Kaffy disclosed the news on her official Instagram page, where she dedicated the award to dancers and everyone who dares to dream while sharing part of her childhood dreams.
Kaffy wrote,
“As a child, I looked through the Guinness book of world records and 18 years later, I broke a Guinness world record. As a teenager, I pictured my face on billboards and on TV and I saw it happen, I lived it.
I watch movies and motivational speeches done in the honorary gown of a doctorate honour and here I am, honoured with the least likely career choice. I have heard so many doubts that through dance, I can amount to nothing not to talk of being celebrated or honoured on this level, in fact on many levels. I am here, surrounded by academics honouring me not for a certificate but for the application of every ounce of knowledge I have acquired in life, both in school and on the street.”
Kaffy who became globally recognized for breaking the Guinness World Record for Longest Dance Party at the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon in 2006 has afterwards won countless awards and recognition as a renowned dancer and instructor. In 2014, she won the Best Dancer of the Year by the African Muzik Magazine Awards, The Best Choreographer of the year 2015 award by the Beatz, Special Recognition Award by the Headies in 2018 and more.

She is currently a dance instructor who has digitalized the methods of teaching dance and dance fitness in an accelerated-learning format.
