Apply for the 2020 Learn Africa Program for Women by Women for Africa Foundation

Women for Africa Foundation is delighted to offer Learn Africa Scholarships 2020 to Graduate and Undergraduate African Women into Spanish and Portuguese universities.

Women for Africa Foundation is a private entity founded in 2012 by the former Vice President of the Government of Spain, María Teresa Fernández de la Vega, with the aim of contributing to the development of Africa through her women. Since then, the Foundation has launched a dozen projects in the areas of education, economic development, health, knowledge, and empowerment of women.

Following the success of previous programs, the Women for Africa Foundation launches the third public edition of the African University Scholarship Program, Learn Africa, which has helped hundreds of African students into Spanish universities.

Learn scholarships allows selected students to complete their university studies in Spanish and Portuguese universities and then invest what they have learned into their communities, thus contributing to the advancement of African societies. Learn Africa Scholarships are basically available for African countries.

The Learn Africa Scholarships 2020 is mainly funded by participating universities, all of which are members of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE). They cover round-trips and tuition fees, accommodation, food, and health insurance.

The scholarship includes a return ticket to the student’s home country, university fees, health insurance, accommodation, and meals. The additional costs of opening a bank account, city transportation, and pocket money are not guaranteed.

Learn Africa this year presents a different call than usual. Given the global travel restrictions established by the Covid-19 pandemic, all the studies offered for 2020-2021 are online and have been specially designed by Spanish universities to avoid the impact of the coronavirus. Therefore, the scholarships for this call cover only tuition and academic fees.

Eligibility

Anyone who meets the following conditions can apply:

* To be a woman and African nationality.

* You must be enrolled in an African university or have a university degree in an African country. Graduate scholarships require the title of the study. The degree required may vary depending on the scholarship desired (details of each scholarship).

* Meet the specific requirements of each scholarship.

Deadline

Scholarships can be requested from the 30th of June to the 15th of July (2020), both dates inclusive. This period may be extendable depending on the number of requests received.
