Africa’s leading payments solution company Flutterwave has been named a ’pioneer’ on TIME’s 2021 list of the 100 Most Influential Companies in the world. Amongst world-leading tech giants like Apple, Twitter and Stripe, Flutterwave makes the only African company to be included in the list. Other pioneers on the list include Bumble, Strava, Klutch Sports Group, Roblox, Hello Sunshine, and others.

The first-ever TIME 100 Most Influential Companies spotlights companies shaping the future of the world under five categories – Pioneers, Leaders, Innovators, Disruptors and Titans. The list is an expansion of the iconic TIME100 franchise, which highlights businesses making an extraordinary impact around the world.  To collate the list, TIME sought nominations across sectors including health care, entertainment, transportation, technology and more from their global network of editors and correspondents and industry experts.

The list was evaluated based on key factors such as relevance, impact, innovation, leadership, ambition and success.  The result is, therefore, a diverse array of 100 institutions, helping to chart an essential path forward.
