Information on this development was disclosed in a Press statement by Netflix’ Director of Licensing and Co-productions in Africa, Ben Amadasun. Ben Amadasun stated,

The plan will be carried out through the promotion of ‘Naija to the World’ story collection on Netflix, which will feature Nigerian storytellers and talents who have contributed significantly to the country’s creative industry. The collection will feature more than 90 Nigerian movies and series that star some of Nigeria’s top talents and will be available on the website globally.

Speaking, Ben Amadasun said,

“The titles have been curated into various rows to make it easy for members to discover stories that suit whatever mood they are in. These include critically-acclaimed Nigerian films, Nollywood thrillers, romantic films, comedies, crime films and dramas. They feature Nigeria’s leading actresses like Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic, Kate Henshaw, Omoni Oboli, Zainab Balogun, Funke Akindele and Kehinde Bankole.”

Ben Amadun further listed some of the exciting contents on the collection like ‘The Making of Nigeria,’ a new docu-series from Nigeria-based Quramo Productions, which will premiere on October 1. He said that the seven-part docu-series will focus on Nigeria’s history from colonization to independence.

The movie, ‘Oloture’ by EbonyLife studios will also premiere on the 2nd of October. Ben disclosed that ’Oloture’ tells the story of a young female journalist who goes undercover as a prostitute to expose a human trafficking syndicate.
