Mustafa Chike-Obi‘
Mustafa Chike-Obi was recently announced as the Chairman of the Bank Directors Association of Nigeria (BDAN). He is also Chairman of the Board of Fidelity Bank Plc and reputed for creating and heading the Treasury Department Concept in Nigerian banking, which is now a critical part of the industry. Also, the stabilization of the Nigerian banking sector could be largely credited to his thoughtful strategies.
Mustafa Chike-Obi has held several managerial and leadership positions in reputable global investment banking and asset management firms including Chase Merchant Bank, Goldman Sachs, Shoreline Group, Bear Stearns and Guggenheim Partner amongst others. With over 35 years of experience, he boasts of a broad knowledge base in capital market operations in both mature and emerging markets including the development and marketing of fixed income securities products to institutional investors. Chike-Obi’s experience also includes serving as the Chairman of the Public Securities Association Trading Practice Committee of the National Association of Securities Dealers, overseeing mortgage-backed securities.
Chike-Obi holds a first-class Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Lagos and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford School of Business, California, USA.

Chike-Obi was appointed Chairman of the Board of Fidelity Bank Plc in July 2020. Before Fidelity Bank Plc, he served as Executive Vice-Chair of Alpha African Advisory Limited from February 2015 to July 2020, where he provided overall leadership with direct oversight over the capital raising division. Alpha African Advisory is an African focused financial advisory firm that provides a range of first-in-class services to help clients achieve their business and /or investment objectives.
With his verifiable work in Investment Banking and the financial services sector, Chike-Obi was appointed the first Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), a Government-backed institution established in 2010 as a key stabilizing and re-vitalizing tool to resolve the non-performing loan assets of banks in the Nigerian economy. During his five-year tenure at AMCON, he stuck to the corporation’s three cardinal objectives: acquiring the toxic loans, managing them and disposing of the acquired assets at a profit. He also succeeded in setting the national tone for fiscal responsibility, accountability, efficiency and was credited with resolving the banking crisis in a commendable manner, with the lowest possible loss of depositors’ money and at no cost to the national treasury.
Chike-Obi was as well Founding President at Madison Advisors, a financial service advisory and consulting firm in New Jersey, specializing in hedge fund and private equity investment advice. He also served as the Managing Director, Fixed Income at Shoreline Group in the United States, where he handled the development and marketing of a range of fixed income securities products for institutional investors.
