Muyiwa Olarewaju Honoured With Distinguished OBE Medal

Nigerian-British gospel singer and songwriter Muyiwa Olanrewaju has received the prestigious medal for the Order of the British Empire (OBE), in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to music. The award was presented by the Duke of Cambridge, Prince Williams. 

The singer shared the news and pictures of the induction ceremony held at Windsor Castle, on Instagram.

Muyiwa Olanrewaju was previously a performer, broadcaster and presenter who became the first-ever international act to perform on America’s popular entertainment channel, BET, for the prestigious annual Celebration of Gospel show in 2009. He successfully presented the Turning Point programme, reaching an estimated global audience of 70 million.

With his group Riversongz, he sold out Indigo2 at the O2 in London, becoming the first gospel artist to do so. Muyiwa Olanrewaju also played at The Experience, the world’s largest gospel music event where he attracted a 500,000 audience.
