Outstanding Students in 2020 UTME Receive Nigerian Society of Engineer (NSE) 16 million Naira Scholarship
To celebrate their outstanding performance in the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), 16 candidates have been awarded a scholarship worth N16 million by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) to study engineering courses in higher schools. The Nigerian Society of Engineers is the umbrella organization for the Engineering Profession in Nigeria. The Society looks after the professional requirements of members through well-structured programs and regular interactions among the different cadre of membership, enhancing high professional standard and ethical practices.
The beneficiaries of this scholarship have indicated interest to study mechanical, industrial production, electrical, computer science as well as civil engineering in Nigerian universities. The best 3 of the 16 candidates, Maduafokwa Egoagwuagwa Agnes, Nwobi Okwuchuwu David, and Ojuba Mezisasha Shalom scored 365, 363 and 359 in the examination with the total possible score being 400.

This NSE scholarship award was instituted is to motivate secondary school students to study engineering and STEM-related courses in the university.
The president of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Babagana Mohammed during the unveiling ceremony of the NSE 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Best Brains in Engineer stated,
“The Nigerian Society of Engineers ( NSE) has, in line with her strategic mission and objective of getting more Nigerians to read and practice Engineering Advocacy, and to grow the Practice of the Profession in all its ramifications decided to award these high potential future inventors, innovators, and problem-solvers scholarship for the 5-year duration of their studies at their preferred local universities.”
Engr. Babagana further mentioned that with more of these direct collaborative, non – governmental, motivated interventions and schemes, the foundation would be laid for a tech-savvy generation that would be capable of competing with, and besting their peers from other parts of the globe.
This scholarship and mentorship scheme according to him is an attempt by the engineering profession to have a handshake with the society through parents, guardians, and pupils.
Outstanding Students in 2020 UTME Receive Nigerian Society of Engineer (NSE) 16 million Naira Scholarship. Each of the candidates will get N200, 000 per year for the next five years together with a brand new laptop while the best candidate, Maduafokwa got an extra laptop and a tablet donated by the President, Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, Mrs. Funmilola Ojelade, and other sponsors.
