SDGs Championships Program 2020 For Young Nigerians

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. The Sustainable Development Goals address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, hunger, inequality, quality education, clean water and sanitation, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice amongst others.

The SDG goals were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

Since the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Nigeria has continued to demonstrate its commitment to the SDGs promise through leadership and ownership of the implementation process. The Nigeria road map to the SDGs is however designed to focus on six thematic areas namely: policies, data management, institutions, partnership, communications and finance.

Nigeria has conducted various advocacy and awareness activities with several government ministries, departments and agencies and supported initiatives aimed at promoting strategic engagements around the SDGs.

The Nigerian Youths SDGs is an organization that is involved in educating – telling everyone about the SDGs and holding every stakeholder accountable for implementation; policy education – educating member organizations on best practices for sustainable development and organize pop up events around localizing the SDGs and the importance of enshrining the SDGs in our developmental agenda.

The organization is looking for individuals passionate about the Sustainable Development Goals or individuals who run an organization that is working towards implementing SDGs related projects and activities. The Nigeria Youth SDGs Network (NGYouthSDGs) is on a drive to expand and engage more young people in achieving the 2030 Agenda with a focus on human capacity development and access to decent work.

The organization is looking for partners to work with in driving accountability and implementing projects for the SDG in line with the vision to create a platform for youth-led/focus civil society organizations to understand their roles, responsibilities, and engagements in advocating and driving accountability for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria.
