Wizkid Wins 2021 MTV Video Music Award for his Collaboration in “Brown Skin Girl”

The 2021 MTV Video Music Awards aired live on Sunday 12th September at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn New York.

“Brown Skin Girl” by American singer Beyoncé, Guyanese rapper Saint Jhn, and Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid, featuring Blue Ivy Carter from the 2019 soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift, won the Best Cinematography category in the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards. 

In the Best R&B category, “Brown Skin Girl” was up against “Leave the Door Open”, “Go Crazy” by Chris Brown and Young Thug, “Heartbreak Anniversary” by Giveon, “Come Through” by H.E.R. ft. Chris Brown and “Good Days” by SZA.

Canadian singer Justin Bieber, who received seven nominations won in two categories: Artist of the Year and Best Pop awards. Megan Thee Stallion followed with six nominations but didn’t win any award for the night.

While Olivia Rodrigo got three awards at the ceremony including Song of the Year for her hit “Drivers License“, Best New Artist and Push Performance of the Year; Foo Fighters received the Global Icons award for the year.

Wizkid Wins 2021 MTV Video Music Award for his Collaboration in “Brown Skin Girl”

Wizkid’s collaboration in Brown Skin Girl has earned him several nods including a 2020 Grammy Award for Best Music Video and number 72 spot in the Billboard Hot 100 in 2019. He also won two Soul Train Music Awards, the BET Awards, and an NAACP Image Award.
