2020 Arise Fashion Week to Showcase Africa’s Brightest and Best by December 2020

One of Africa’s biggest fashion event, Arise Fashion Week has been scheduled to hold in Lagos, Nigeria from the 5th to 12th of December 2020. The 6^th edition of the highly anticipated fashion event initially scheduled for April was recently moved to December in a statement made on the Arise Fashion Week’s official Instagram account.

The vision to make African fashion global truly aligns with its name and focus. Annually, the event celebrates young designers from Africa, the diaspora and the world.

Arise Fashion Week is recognized as one of the most revered fashion shows in Africa which projects the best trends in fashion to the world. The show welcomes both upcoming and established talents in the fashion circle as well as renowned names in the international fashion space. The event will provide an international platform to showcase and promote African designers while earning them recognition within and out of Africa.

Since its launch in 2009, Arise Fashion has continued to put Nigeria on the global fashion map, promoting African and Nigerian designers on the runway shows.

Arise Runway tagged the most beautiful in Africa has seen highly talented world fashion icons and leading models since its first edition like Naomi Campbell, Alek Wek, Liya Kebede, Oluchi Orlandi, Grace Bol, Agbani Darego, Georgie Badiel and others showcase the best of Africa’s fashion to the world. Also, it has featured over 500 international designers such as Gavin Rajah, Tiffany Amber, Oswald Boateng, Lanre DaSilva, Lisa Folawiyo, Ituen Basi, Deola Sagoe, etc; and Fashion Editors like Edward Enninful and Andre Leon Tally.

The show would be streamed online all over the world as highly talented designers showcase the brightest and best of fashion and style whilst competing for a $500,000 prize.

The winner will be presented with $300,000 cash prize, while the first runner up takes home $150,000 and the second runner up with $50,000 cash prize.

Application is ongoing and will close on the 31st of October, 2020. 

Arise Fashion seeks self-confident designers who are either 30 years old or below the age of 30. Designers must be outstanding with a compelling fashion idea and must be very attractive with the drive to conquer the world of fashion and dominate established brands. 

The selection committee will comprise of global fashion icons and writers, who will shortlist the 30 best designers to compete for a chance to become rising stars of the universe.
