Interview With The CEO Of Taiomoakinafrikana Batik
Why did you decide to be an entrepreneur?
I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I want to be able to create new things, infuse new ideas to existing ones and be an employer.
What inspired the idea of the “Taiomoakinafrikana” brand and when did you start your initiative?
I’m a multifaceted person. I love the art of making adire/batik on textiles and I want people to appreciate art more through my brand. When the opportunity came, I learnt the art for free at Adara Foundation in 2018. I immediately set up with the stipends they were given us right before I finished the program. I started Tai OmoAkin Afrikana in September 29th, 2018 (a date to commiserate with my late father’s birthday).
What motivates you and what are the principles that guide your business?
I want to see our indigenous textile in every form of art, competing successfully with other textile brand in the world. The principle that guides my business is having a brand that is unique and different from others.
