Given the significance of the fourth industrial revolution, the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the ministry of communications and Digital Economy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with tech giant, International Business Machines (IBM) West Africa for partnership and collaboration for the development of digital skills in Nigeria.

The partnership would drive the economic development plan of Nigeria through entrepreneurial efforts integrated with technology and innovation.

The MOU was recently signed in Abuja and it is scheduled to take effect from February 2020. This is noteworthy and great news for Nigerians as it will upskill Nigerian youths with digital literacy skills, enable innovation, design, and development of Indigenous solutions, self- sufficiency and make Nigeria a hub for critical skills for Africa and the world at large. The partnership will provide free training to Nigerians for a period of 12 to 16 weeks, in diverse areas of Information technology (IT).

The Federal Government intends to use the MOU to create awareness and support of the development and use of digital tools and applications which will improve the delivery of government services and give Nigerians access to digital skills validated by globally recognized certifications.

The following are the top digital skills employers are looking for today and in the coming years. Programming, Web and App Development, Digital Business Analysis, Digital Design & Data Visualization, Digital Project Management, Digital Product Management, Digital Marketing, and Data Science & Data Analytics.
