Entry of submissions is now open for 2022 All Africa Music Awards – AFRIMA. The AFRIMA is an annual awards event established by the International Committee of AFRIMA, in collaboration with the African Union. The event rewards and celebrates musical works, talents, and creativity around the African continent while promoting the African cultural heritage.
The announcement of this year’s event was made during a news conference held at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on May 29, 2022. Before the awards ceremony slated for November 3, 2022, the media and the general public have been presented with the schedule of activities.
The AFRIMA awards include a total of 40 categories spread across different music genres and creative expressions ranging from the classic to the traditional and the contemporary forms of African music and creativity. The awards also include the honorary AFRIMA Legend Award.
The Legend Award is a special honour to an African music veteran whose personality and musical art have contributed greatly to the advancement of the music and creative sectors of the continent. This celebrated veteran, through his or her professional career, must have driven a positive international perception of African heritage and art.
The 2022 AFRIMA calendar begins today, May 30, 2022, with the entry of submissions which will end on Friday, August 5, 2022. Submissions can be made for themselves or on behalf of artists from across the continent and in the diaspora by their representatives such as talent managers, record company personnel, producers, and more.

After the submission of entries, the pre-screening process will take place between August 5 and August 8, 2022. The main screening process will begin immediately after pre-screening on August 9, 2022, through August 16, 2022.
The nominations will be announced on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, and voting will open on August 24, 2022. This will be on AFRIMA’s website where fans will be able to vote for their favorites.
The awards ceremony will hold from Thursday, November 3, to Saturday, November 6, 2022.
Music lovers can enjoy the event live on social media or live stream on the official AFRIMA website at www.afrima.org
