The Federal Inland Revenue Service of Nigeria (FIRS) announced new measures to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 virus on taxpayers recently through a statement. The Executive Chairman of FIRS, Muhammed Nami, through the statement, extended the due date for filing of taxes and provided an avenue for the tax returns to be submitted online through designated websites. He pledged that FIRS would continue to monitor the situation and adjust its policies accordingly.

* The FIRS is extending the timeline for filing of Value Added Tax and Withholding Tax to the last working day of the month, following the month of deduction.
