Kunle Afolayan is a Nigerian Actor, Film producer, and Director.

Kunle is the son of famous theater and film director and producer Ade Love. Kunle is of Igbomina-Yoruba descent from Kwara state. He majored in economics and started his professional life in the banking industry before moving into full-time filmmaking and taking a course at the New York Film Academy.

Kunle Afoloyan is a true example of someone who built everything he has achieved by working tirelessly, doing proper research, writing diverse stories and breaking past the regular themes of Nigerian movies.

Kunle Afolayan has been active in the Nigerian film industry since 2005 with explosive and mind-boggling films such as The Figurine: Araromire a supernatural suspense thriller film acted in the Yoruba and English languages, Phone Swap, and October 1st.

The Figurine was nominated for ten awards and won five major awards at the African Film Academy Awards including the awards for Best Picture, Heart of Africa, Achievement in Cinematography and Achievement in Visual Effects. The movie experienced tremendous success in the Nigerian movie theaters.

Kunle is a unique writer, producer, and director.

In 2011, Kunle Afolayan appeared at the Subversive Film Festival where he represented the Nigerian film Industry and in May 2013, Phone Swap premiered in France at the first edition of Nollywood Week Paris and won the Public Choice Award. Phone Swap went ahead to win more awards like ‘Outstanding Film Directing’ in Festival prize (2012) and Golden Jury Awards ‘Best Film’.

Kunle Afolayan is the CEO and founder of Golden effects Pictures, a Nigerian film, and production company. Kunle’s works have so far spoken for him and recently his movies were added to Netflix, the international online streaming platform. This is a huge deal as Netflix is one of the largest international media service providers and production company.

Kunle has many more movies to his name like The Arbitration, The CEO, The Bridge and more recently Mokalik.

Always one for creating new films, Kunle Afolayan is currently concluding a new movie titled Citation.
