To further enrich our diverse community, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is offering a new scholarship for high achieving students from African countries.
Details of the Award:
This new scholarship of £3,000 will be offered to high achieving African students.
How to Apply
The number of scholarships available is limited and scholarships are offered on a first come first served basis to applicants who meet the eligibility criteria. We will automatically consider you for a scholarship as part of our standard Master’s application process. If you are awarded a scholarship, we will let you know.
Eligibility
To be eligible for an award, you will need to meet the criteria below:
* You must be a permanent resident and national of Africa, as defined by the African Union.
* You must have achieved or be on target to achieve the equivalent to a UK 1st Class undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree. See examples of grade equivalents below.
* You must have applied for a full-time Master’s programme in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for 2021 entry (2021-2022 academic year): https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/arts-and-social sciences/study/postgraduate/masters/courses/
* You must be self-funding your studies or, if you are in receipt of other funding, that funding must not cover more than 50% of the Lancaster University tuition fee. If following an offer from Lancaster University, you are awarded other funding that exceeds 50% then you must inform Lancaster University. Your scholarship will then be made available to another candidate.
* If you are offered a scholarship, you will be required to pay a £250 acceptance deposit to secure the scholarship award. You will need to pay the acceptance deposit within 4 weeks of the date we notify you that you have been successful in obtaining a scholarship.

Application Deadline
You should apply for your Master’s programme as soon as possible to be considered for this scholarship. The number of scholarships is limited and will be offered in order of application.
Important Information
* The offer of a scholarship is on the basis of achieving or being on track to achieve the equivalent of a UK 1st Class undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree. Awardees must also meet all other entry requirements for the postgraduate taught programme applied for which will be delivered by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
* Scholarships are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis.
* All scholarships are awarded as fee discounts.
* Your undergraduate institution of study must be listed on the UK NARIC website: https://www.naric.org.uk/
* Those who are awarded a scholarship may be asked to participate in a range of activities during their studies to promote our programmes to future students. This could include, for example, acting as a student ambassador for your department, engaging with prospective students, and sharing your experiences of being a student in our Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Lancaster University.
