Nigerian women featured on Forbes 50 Over 50

Nigerian women, irrespective of their age, are continually pushing the limits to achieve success that has been recognized on the global scene. These women were recently featured on the second annual edition of Forbes 50 Over 50. 

Nike Davi

Nike Davies-Okundaye

Nike is a designer and artist who learned the art of Adire textiles (indigo-dyed cloth) from her great-grandmother. Nike Davies-Okundaye is the Chief Executive Officer of Nike Art Gallery in Lagos and oversees other art galleries in Abuja, Kogi and Osun States. Nike’s artworks are displayed in various museums across the world including the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art and a part of the British Library’s West Africa exhibition. Nike has so far empowered over 4,000 women to earn their livelihoods through weaving and adire making.

Amina Mohammed

Amina J. Mohammed

Amina Mohammed began her career as an architect in the Nigerian private sector. She worked for private architects, designing schools and healthcare buildings before she moved to the public sector. Amina worked for three different Nigerian presidents before becoming an advisor to former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon in 2012. Five years later, under António Guterres, Amina became the UN’s deputy Secretary-General.

Arunmah Oteh

Arunma Oteh

Arunma Oteh was appointed to serve as the Treasurer of the World Bank in 2015. This role put her at the head of a division with $200 billion in assets. Arunma remained in the position until 2018. She currently serves as an executive in residence at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School. In 2021, she was named the chair of the Royal African Society, a British nonprofit that sits under the patronage of Prince William.

These women continue to serve as inspiration to Nigeria and the world and we are so proud.
