Patoranking Featured in the Newly Released Reggae Classic One Love by Bob Marley Reimagined in Partnership with UNICEF
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with selected renowned artistes all over the world including Nigerian Musician, Patoranking, recently re-released the late Bob Marley’s iconic song, “One Love”. Originally recorded in 1977 by Bob Marley and the Wailers, One Love is an iconic song for millions across the globe with its everlasting message to come together as one.
This collaboration was revealed in a statement signed by UNICEF Abuja, Communication, Advocacy and Partnerships officer, Mr Oluwatosin Akingbulu, who stated that proceeds from the song and related activities would be used to support “Reimagine”, UNICEF’s new global campaign focused on building a post-COVID-19 world fit for children.
The song, released on July 17, 2020 by Tuff Gong International and Amplified Music Ltd was recorded by the Marley family in response to a call by UNICEF to help reimagine a fairer, more just world for children whose lives have been upended by the COVID-19 pandemic, and to honor the late Bob Marley.
In response to this, Patoranking, who is passionate about world peace and philanthropy stated:
“I am thrilled to be a part of this project, with UNICEF and the Marley family, who are lending their generous support, creativity and love to help the most vulnerable children around the world including right here in Nigeria,”
“Together, we can defeat the virus and also build our country stronger and better.””
The new version of “One Love” will be a true global anthem for 2020, featuring members of the Marley family, established musicians from all corners of the globe, artists from conflict zones around the world, and children living in vulnerable communities.

“More than 40 years ago, my father wrote One Love about unity, peace and universal love during a time when there was much trouble in the world. Even in a time when we aren’t able to get together, his message remains true today – we can get through this global crisis if we come together through one love and one heart,” said Cedella Marley, daughter of the late Bob Marley.
Speaking on the project, Henrietta Fore, UNICEF’s Executive director, said:
“One Love is one of the world’s most iconic solidarity anthems. But it is also a song about children, and their hopes and dreams for a better, more united and equal world.”
