The virtual conference tagged ‘Outsmart 2020’ is one of her numerous contributions towards the growth of innovative and solution-driven businesses in Africa. The conference will hold through her initiative, ‘Flourish Africa’ and is scheduled virtually via Facebook live and YouTube live on Saturday, September 19, 2020, from 9 am to 11 am.
Flourish Africa is an initiative on a mission to unlock the talents of women in Nigeria and across the world. The initiative which was founded upon Alakija’s passion to see women live up to their dreams and fulfilment is focused on women empowerment, training and development. She is the Group Managing Director, The Rose of Sharon Group which includes The Rose of Sharon Prints and Promotions Limited, Digital Reality Prints Limited, the Executive Vice-Chairman, Famfa Oil Limited and the Chairman of Dayspring Property Development Company Limited, a real estate company.
In 2014, she was listed as the 96th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes. In 2015, she was listed among the world’s most powerful women according to Forbes as 86th on the list. In 2016, she was listed among ‘power women’ and in 2019, she was listed among billionaires in the world. More recently, 2020 saw her on the list of Africa’s billionaires.
