Tems is Apple Music’s “Up Next” Artist
Nigerian alternative R&B singer Tems is the latest addition to Apple Music Up Next program. Apple Up Next includes a dynamic class of new and emerging artists. This month, Apple Music disclosed that it is led by the music star Tems.
Apple Music Up Next is the streaming platform’s monthly initiative which aims to showcase and promote rising talent in the global music industry.
Tems addition to Apple’s Up Next is just one of her latest achievements. The singer recently disclosed her signing to Since ‘93/RCA Records and released her 5-track EP “If Orange Was a Place” on September 15.
Tems who released her first EP “For Broken Ears” last year is no doubt a force to reckon with in the Nigerian music scene. “For Broken Ears” was top R&B album in 43 countries, receiving accolades from top international acts including Chris Brown, Brent Faiyaz, and Drake to name a few.
The fastest rising music artist also appeared on Drake’s newest album “Certified Lover Boy”, as well as well as Wizkid’s groundbreaking single “Essence” which has topped the Billboard chart severally and held the #1 position on Shazam’s Top 200 Charts. “Essence” was named the “song of the summer” by Canadian singer Justin Bieber followed by a new version released in collaboration with the singer. The standout single went #1 at Urban Radio and # on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.

Songs by Tems have been prominently featured on Apple Music playlists including Africa Now, Afrobeats Hits, and Top 100: Nigeria. Tems was rated an Apple Music “Africa Rising” artist and has curated an exclusive guest playlist for Apple Music Africa Month and Holiday Sounds. She has also contributed to Apple Music’s Exclusive Original Playlist – Juneteenth 2021: Freedom Songs.
