The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) in its 15th year has disclosed that its first-ever TV and virtual edition will hold in November 2020 with the theme, ‘Age of Revolution.’ For its first-ever TV and virtual show, TFAA announced Toke Makinwa, a renowned on-air personality and one of Africa’s biggest social influencer, as the host for the 2020 edition.

The event will be aired with a wider reach on Africa Magic, MTV Base, Pop Central and Cool FM. The Co- host for the event will be revealed in November by the Radio superstar alongside the date and time for the much anticipated event, which will be disclosed by the organizers.

Toke Makinwa will grace the stage for the event’s foremost virtual hosting arrangement, to comply with the laid down COVID-19 directive. The news of her feature was revealed on her official Instagram account where she happily stated,

”I am excited to announce that I will be hosting the 15th edition of The Future Awards Africa 2020 in partnership with @Ynaija and @iamyafrica. This is most special to me because for the first time we are having a virtual (TV and Digital) awards show.

Toke Makinwa noted that the theme for the 2020 edition of the event totally aligns with her desire to contribute to and witness changes in Nigeria and Africa.

Commenting on the theme of the event, Bukonla Adebakin, the Chief Operating Officer of RED | For Africa, (presenters of the awards) and Senior Advisor to The Future Project expressed that the theme resonates with the power unleashed by the youths, including the resilience and consistency they showed forth this year, despite all odds. She further said,

“They haven’t just unleashed power, but they have forced important change, everywhere in the world. The media campaign #TheAgeofRevolution that will unveil in November will underline the power and magic of this historic moment.”

The Future Awards Africa Event is part of the 3-day TV and Digital Festival – The Future Festival, organized in collaboration with exclusive industry giants such as African Magic, MTV Base and Pop Central TV. After the event, the Future Festival will donate 25% of all accrued profits to a group of NGOs working to end sexual and gender-based violence in Nigeria and Africa. They are: The Mirabel Centre, Women at Risk International Foundation, Wine and Whine Ng and more. Other partners include Y! Africa, Cool FM, Wazobia Max and others.

This year, The Future Awards Africa will be celebrating what makes young people special and what keeps youth culture winning.
