10-year-old Tanitoluwa Adewumi has over the years received both national and international prominence for his excellent chess skills. From being a homeless kid, Tanitoluwa Adewumi has now, through his chess prowess secured his future and is fast making waves in the competitive world of chess.

Tanitoluwa Adewumi rose to the limelight in 2019, when he won the New York State Chess Championship, now a master at the young age of 10. On achieving this feat, he was highly applauded by many across the world, including the former US President, Bill Clinton.

Tanitoluwa, who relocated to the US with his family in 2017, started playing the game of chess in 2018. The young lad recently made another stride to fulfil his goal of becoming the youngest chess grandmaster in the world and also to break the world champion record.

As reported by Nicholas Kristof, New York Times columnist on the 2nd of May 2021, Tanitoluwa just won a championship and is officially a National Chess Master as a 10-year-old 5th grader.

The columnist hints that the Nigerian-American chess player is a reminder that “talent is universal, but opportunity is not”, as he was lucky enough to find a chess program close to his shelter back then.

Tanitoluwa, who prepares for the game by practicing on chess playing sites is fast rising to stardom inside and outside the world of chess. To Tani, he enjoys the game because it requires great IQ.

Alongside his ever-rising ambition for the chess game, three film companies had competed for the rights to his story, while Paramount Pictures won.
