9ijakids Gains Over 11,000 Reads through its Short Stories on Google’s Read-Along App
Indigenous Nigerian edtech company 9ijakids, through its short stories has gained massive traction with over 11,000 reads on Google’s Read-Along app within a few weeks of sealing a content-sharing agreement with global technology giant Google.
Google’s Read Along app was launched in 2019 to improve children’s literacy levels and it partnered with 9ijakids to help more kids learn to read through its app.
Titi Adewusi, vice president of global business development and co-founder of 9ijakids, in a statement said, ”We see this as an opportunity to support the delivery of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) goal, an initiative to improve children’s literacy skills. The partnership with Google is in line with our vision to leverage technology, digital content and gamification to help the African child acquire relevant skills needed to become leaders of tomorrow.”
By partnering with Google, 9ijakids strives to achieve its goal of bringing African stories and values to the global stage.

As part of its efforts to contain COVID-19 spread, 9ijakids also recently launched a safety game, called ‘Safety Checkup’ to enhance children’s safety against COVID-19 in schools.
In 2019, 9ijakids emerged top 10 in the Union Bank Edtech Challenge and was also a top 10 finalist in the Africa UK Female Tech Founders Challenge. In 2019, the company launched its activity books, an offline version of the games, which sold over 4000 copies within a month.
