Razaq Ahmed is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cowrywise, a leading fintech platform that makes financial services more accessible. The startup provides investment management for Africans and enables access to savings and investment products securely.
Razaq received a first-class bachelor’s degree in Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University and a Chartered Financial Analyst certification in 2012.
Razaq has over 12 years of experience working as a Research Analyst and Business Economist at top companies like Meristem Securities, Vetiva Capital Management, and the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria. At Meristem, he did an active coverage of the Nigerian equity market that included the banking, cement, and FMCGs sectors. He also offered financial advice for individual and institutional clients on portfolio optimization. Although his employment at Meristem came during his National Youth Service year, Razaq properly utilized this Job opportunity and served out the year.

Razaq also worked as a Research Analyst at Vetiva Capital Management from August 2010 to November 2010. There, he covered the Brewery and Conglomerates sectors. He was also Business Economist at Shell Petroleum from December 2010 to January 2012 and was later promoted to the post of Gas Commercial.
Razaq ventured into entrepreneurship in 2013 when he launched Sart Partners, a boutique investments-management firm. In 2017, he started Cowrywise with Edward Popoola to help Nigerians invest.
Cowrywise now boast of top investors including YCombinator, Catalyst Fund, SHL Capital, Microtraction, and others.
