Tulo-Tulowa Village – The Desert Land of Hope
Tulo-Tulowa Village is located in Yusufari Local Government Area of Yobe State. A mushy oasis with abundant water in a low valley providing a magnificent view in the desert, the village of Tulo-Tulowa is located in a low valley and it is surrounded by palm trees between five hills.
The settlement is located near an Oasis on the desert island, and about 105km north of Nguru at the desert fingers bordering the Republic of Niger. The village has other oases with reddish undulating landscape, giving it magnificent picturesque scenery.
Tulo-Tulowa came into existence about a century ago when nomadic rearers from Geidam Local Government migrated there in search of greener pastures.

Tulo-Tulowa is endowed with fertile soil and rich mineral resources. Potash, which is also known as black salt (Kanwa), is available in commercial quantities. Camel caravans are always seen conveying potash to Geidam and Gashua to be exchanged for food stuff.
With cascading sands and an undulating landscape, the terrain of Tulo-Tulowa is impossible for many cars.
The atmosphere is quiet, peaceful and serene. As a result, it is also called “the desert land of hope”. Tulo-Tulowa is also called “a no pressure zone” because there is no mobile network for endless calls. It is a location where you can simply breathe fresh air, and not worry about the many pressures of the cities.
Home to the Manga, Shuwa, Kanuri and Fulani, Tulo-Tulowa is a deeply conservative region, many of the inhabitants being farmers and cattle rearers. The terrain with its endless land and abundant mineral resources has camels everywhere. Herds of cattle are a common sight.
