Ade Hassan
Ade Hassan is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Nubian Skin, a company with nude-toned clothing and undergarments for darker skin tones.
Ade started her entrepreneurial journey following her constant struggles to get lingerie that would complement her wardrobe and black skin color. Knowing that she couldn’t be the only one facing this issue, Ade set up Nubian Skin.
Nubian Skin has redefined the meaning of “nude” by offering various skin tone options for brassieres, underwear, hosiery, and shoes. The brand offers products in four different colours – berry, cinnamon, caramel and cafe au lait.

In October 2014, Ade and her team launched the Nubian Skin website and posted some promotional photoshoots on their Instagram handle. The products received huge patronage, and their Instagram account grew from 50 followers to over 20,000 followers in four weeks. Today they are at 163,000 followers and counting. Ade and her team created the undergarments worn by Beyoncé and her dancers for the singer’s 2016 Formation concert tour.
Ade completed a bachelor’s degree in Economics and English from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, and a master’s degree in Finance and Development from SOAS University of London.
In 2014, she was named Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards and in October 2015, Nubian Skin was nominated for Hosiery Brand of the Year at the UK Lingerie Awards. She also won UK’s Favourite British Designer of the Year.
In 2017, Ade was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to fashion.
