Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Mike Adenuga and Others Are Among Forbes’ Africa’s Billionaires of 2024
Nigeria’s Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has maintained his position for the 13th consecutive year as the richest individual in Africa, with a net worth of $13.9 billion, according to the 2024 Forbes list of the continent’s top 20 billionaires released yesterday.
Following closely behind Dangote in the 2024 Forbes list of Africa’s richest individuals are Johann Rupert and Family from South Africa, possessing a net worth of $10.1 billion.
Rupert is followed by another South African entrepreneur, Nicky Oppenheimer, and his family, with a net worth of $9.4 billion, followed by Nassef Sawiris with a net worth of $8.7 billion.

Nigeria’s Mike Adenuga follows with a net worth of $6.9 billion and the Chairman of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, with a net worth of $5.9 billion.
Femi Otedola, the Executive Chairman of Geregu Power Plc and a non-executive director at FBN Holdings, secured the 20th position on the list with a net worth of $1.1 billion.
Forbes highlighted the positive shift in the fortunes of Africa’s wealthiest individuals over the past 12 months, indicating a reversal from the previous year’s decline, although still below their peak levels.
According to Forbes, the 20 billionaires on the 2024 Forbes list of Africa’s Richest were worth a combined $82.4 billion, reflecting a $900 million increase from last year’s $81.5 billion.
