Juju Stories, the anthology film from the Surreal16 Collective, will premiere at the 74th edition of the Locarno Film Festival in August 2021. Rooted in Nigerian folklore and urban legend, Juju Stories will include three different parts: ”Suffer the Witch”, ”Yam” and ”Love Portion”, all written and directed by CJ Obasi, (Suffer the Witch) Abba T. Makama (Yam) and Michael Omonua (Love Portion). 

The film was produced by Oge Obasi, Francis Nebot,  Adaugo Uzoma and features the likes of Timini Egbuson, Adebukola Oladipupo, Belinda Agedah Yanga, Paul Utomi, Elvis Poko, Don Ekwuazi, and Nengi Adoki amongst others.

Locarno Film Festival was founded in 1946 and remains one of the oldest international film festivals in history. It is held annually in Locarno, Switzerland and is highly famous for showcasing a range of arthouse and niche films.

The festival’s most prestigious prize is the Golden Leopard, usually awarded to the best film in the competition. Other awards include the Leopard of Honour for career achievement and the Prix du Public UBS, the public choice award.
