Asisat Oshoala is a distinguished member of the recently announced Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 2020 achievers list.
Asisat Oshoala is a professional footballer currently playing for the Spanish side FC Barcelona Femení in the Primera División as a forward.
At the beginning of her football career, she found success as a forward for Nigeria’s youth teams but made most of her early appearances for the senior national team as an attacking midfielder. She was nicknamed “Seedorf” after male footballer Clarence Seedorf. She is fondly called “Superzee” by her teammates.
In September 2014, Asisat Oshoala was awarded the national Nigerian Honor – Member of the Order of the Niger for her giant strides in female football globally and service to the nation. Nigerian National Honors are a set of orders and decorations conferred upon Nigerians and friends of Nigeria who have rendered great services to the benefit of the nation.
In January 2015, Asisat Oshoala joined Liverpool Ladies. Liverpool manager, Matt Beard described Asisat Oshoala as “one of the best young players in the world”. She moved to the Chinese club Dalian Quanjian F.C. in early 2017. During her time there, she became the top scorer in the Superleague in her debut season.

She later signed to the Spanish club, Barcelona Femení on loan from China in January 2019. Asisat Oshoala’s contribution to the team significantly improved Barcelona Femení play at the time with the club making it to the 2019 UEFA Women’s Champions League final and Asisat Oshoala scored the only goal in that final.
Remarkably in February 2020, Asisat Oshoala scored a brace (two goals) against Real Sociedad which secured the maiden Super Cup title for Barcelona Femení. This was her first trophy in Spain and her seventh in her club career.
Asisat Oshoala’s role and impact in the team no doubt led to the announcement of her full transfer to Barcelona Femení club in May 2019. Asisat Oshoala continued on her winning path, scoring four goals out of the 6-0 win against CD Tacon in January 2020.
