Ayeni Adekunle
Ayeni Adekunle is one of Africa’s leading Public Relations Consultants. He is the founder of Black House Media Group, a public relations and communications company with operations in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. BHMG provides reputation management, corporate communications, media training, brand communications and social media management amongst other services, for clients in diverse sectors such as ICT, Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Entertainment, Financial Services, Education, Telecommunications and Government. Since starting BMH in November 2006, the company has grown into a corporation with subsidiaries including ID Africa, Plaqad, Neusroom, 234Star, NETng, Orin, NET Shop and Nigerian Entertainment Conference – NECLive.
Ayeni Adekunle completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Shortly after graduation, he joined Encomium Weekly as a Showbiz Columnist, having worked previously as a feature editor with Hip Hop World Magazine. He ran the entertainment column – Glitz Beats on ThisDay Newspaper for a year plus after which he joined The Punch as a columnist in 2008. The weekly entertainment column e-Punch with Ayeni Adekunle ran in the Friday edition of the newspaper for two years.
After his two-year career with The Punch, Ayeni launched Nigeria Entertainment Today (NETng), a leading source of African entertainment, fashion and lifestyle news. NETng is the organizer of NECLive, an annual conference of Nigerian entertainers and the NET Honours.

To expand, he also founded ID Africa, a digital communications and content marketing agency, following up in 2017 with Plaqad, a content exchange platform that links marketing professionals to business owners.
Ayeni has spoken at various conferences and workshops including Lagos Business School Pan African University, The Network Conference, British Council, APRA Mauritius amongst many others. He has also served as a consultant to various multinationals in Nigeria such as MTN, MultiChoice, Nigerian Breweries, Viacom International Media Networks and others.
A Marketing/PR executive, he holds membership and fellowship of related organizations. He is a Member of the Public Relations Association of America (PRSA), Chartered Institute of Public Relations UK, Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing, Nigeria (NIMN).
Ayeni has been described by Forbes Magazine as “one of the pioneers who led Nigeria into the digital-first strategy era of Marketing Communications.” He was named Nigeria’s PR Practitioner of the Year 2017 and his company, BHM was also named the Agency of the Year and Best Agency to Work with by the Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). ID Africa also emerged as the Best PR Agency for Use of New Media in 2018 and the same year, BHM clinched the PR Agency of the Year category at the Brandcom Awards.
