Ayo Bankole Akintujoye is a Strategy and Transformation expert with over ten years spanning leadership roles across the financial markets, insurance as well as the oil & gas industries. He has also executed various strategies and industry-wide initiatives in these sectors. His experience cuts across strategy & execution, change management, process improvement, due diligence, merger & acquisition, etc. Ayo Bankole is currently the Head, Business Planning and Appraisal at Aiteo Group, one of Africa’s fastest-growing energy leaders.

Ayo Bankole obtained a bachelor’s degree in Counselling and Political Science from the University of Ibadan and a master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Lagos. He further obtained a certificate in Disruptive Strategy with Clayton Christensen from Harvard Business School Online.

As a Strategy Consultant, Ayo Bankole has led many strategy projects across West Africa, working for recognized companies like KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Phillips Consulting and C2C Consulting. He has also provided strategy advice to over 120 companies with revenues in excess of $4billion and transactions value of over $120 million.

Prior to joining Aiteo group in 2020, Ayo was Group Head, Strategy and Corporate Planning at Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc (CHI Plc), a role he assumed in February 2018. There, he led a team of bright minds to manage a transformation phase for CHI, which includes market diversification strategies that involved investments in Health Management Organization and Microfinance. He also supervised four strategic business units – Strategy, Research and Development, Budgeting & Budgetary control as well as Process and Product Innovation to support the growth of the company.

Ayo Is the convener of the Lagos SME Bootcamp, a platform he founded to help enhance the business management skills of SMEs in order to reduce their risks of failure and contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 8. So far, he has supported over 1,300 SMEs through the Lagos SME Bootcamp platform and via other services to SMEs. He sees Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as the key to unlocking Africa’s growth potential.

Ayo is also a trainer, coach and career mentor. So far, he has mentored over 60 youths across 9 African countries, United States of America (USA), Canada, and the United Kingdom (UK).

Additionally, he is the publisher of The Hedge Report, a free annual publication that promotes responsible use of social media amongst youths. His opinions on strategy, economy, politics, gender, music and more are regularly featured on both global and local media companies such as BBC, Al-Jazeera, DW Germany, South African Business Radio, Nairametics, Channels TV, TVC, AIT and more.

He is a recipient of various awards including the Royal African Young Leadership Award and the Most Proactive AIESECer Award in 2009.
