Burna Boy and Wizkid are Nominees for the 2021 BET Awards
Nigerian music stars have continued to astound us with their various wins and the 2021 BET Awards nomination is just another opportunity to showcase their reach. Our very own favourites and Grammy award winners; Burna Boy and Wizkid have claimed spots at the 2021 BET Awards nomination.
The superstars were nominated for the Best International Act category at the 2021 edition of the BET Awards.
Both stars are up for the Best International Act alongside Aya Nakamura (France), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Emicida (Brazil), Headie One (United Kingdom), Young T & Bugsey (United Kingdom) and Youssoupha (France).
International stars; Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby lead the pack with seven nominations each including the ‘Album of the Year category.
This year’s nominees are creatives across the world of music, television, films and sports.
The 2020 edition of the award saw both Burna Boy and Wizkid grab an award each. While the ‘Twice as Tall’ singer bagged the Best International Act award, the ‘Ojuelegba’ singer got the BET HER award category for his role in Beyonce’s Brown Skin Girl alongside Saint jHN and Blue Ivy Carter.
In 2019, Burna Boy also won the Best International Act award at the BET Awards, while Wizkid won in 2012 when the category had two divisions for Africa and the UK.
Interestingly, Burna Boy and Wizkid also won the Best Global Music Album and Best Music Video categories respectively at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

Award winners will be announced at the award ceremony scheduled for the 27th of June 2021. The show will be aired simultaneously on BET Africa at 2 am CAT and MTV Brazil at 9 pm BRT, followed by international broadcasts in MTV UK on the 28th of June at 9 pm BST, and BET France on the 29th of June at 8:45 pm CEST.
