Burna Boy Becomes First Nigerian Artist with UK Certified Silver Album

Burna Boy becomes the first Nigerian artist to have an album certified as a silver album in the UK with the album, African Giant which was released in 2019.

This is a major accomplishment for the Nigerian born singer as a silver certification in the UK means an album has sold a minimum of 60,000 copies. This is coming right after ‘Own It’ by Stormzy featuring Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran, also hitting a two-time platinum certification for selling 600,000 copies.

Expressing his delight, Burna boy said “African Giant Silver in the UK and Own it x2 Platinum shout out to my brudda Stormzy and love to everyone that supports us. Go stream `REAL LIFE’ now.”

Burna Boy accepted a gold plaque for his 2018 single “On The Low’’ for selling 100,000 (or more) copies. On June 4, it was announced that ‘Be Honest’, the 2019 single by British singer, Jorja Smith featuring Grammy nominee, Burna Boy was also certified platinum in France.
