Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, Asake and Adekunle Gold win Awards at AFRIMA Ceremony
The All Africa Music Awards ceremony, commonly known as AFRIMA took place from January 12th to 15th in Dakar, Senegal with several Nigerian artistes winning prominent awards.
The award ceremony saw a convergence of African superstars celebrating the best music from around the continent. The ceremony was broadcast live on 104 TV stations in more than 84 countries around the world.
Nigerian acts like Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, Asake, and Adekunke Gold clinched various awards at the ceremony, with Davido winning awards in five categories.
Davido’s song “Champion sound” won him the ‘Best African Collaboration and Best Duo Group In African Electro’. He also won the ‘Best Male Artiste in African Inspirational Music’ for ‘Stand Strong’, Best African Pop for ‘High’ for his collaboration with Adekunle Gold, and his collaboration with Tion Wayne on the single ‘Who’s true’ earned him the ‘Best Male Act in Diaspora’.

Burna Boy won the Best Album and Best African Act awards, beating South African Kabza De Small, Didi B from Cote d’Ivoire and others to win the prize.
Adekunle Gold won two awards: Best Act Group in African contemporary music and Best Act, Duo or Group in African Pop, for his song ‘high’ featuring Davido.
Wizkid took home the Best West African Act award, and Asake emerged the Artiste of the Year.
The event featured performances from Ghanian rapper Black Sherif, Nigeria popular duo Psquare, and a few other African acts.
