More power to young women in Nigeria as Vogue recently announced Damilola Odufuwa, and Odunayo Eweniyi as two of its 12 Women Leaders Who Changed the World in 2020 alongside powerful women such as New Zealand’s Prime minister Jacinda Ardern, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US Vice-President-Elect, Kamala Harris. They both share the number 3 spot on the list. Damilola is currently the Head of PR for Africa at Binance and Odunayo is the Co-founder of Piggyvest.

Both Damilola Odufuwa and Odunayo Eweniyi made the list for their women’s group – “Feminist Coalition” formed with 11 other women with the aim of improving the rights of Nigerian women. The group is well known for providing support for the #EndSARS protest in Nigeria.

According to Vogue,

“The Feminist Coalition regards itself not as a political organization. But as a community-building enterprise and women’s rights advocacy group. Using their sophisticated skills in technology and social media, they were able to disseminate real-time information, which raised awareness and funds for the peaceful protests. Rather than a top-down leadership model, Odufuwa, Eweniyi, and their colleagues are democratizing.”
