In a bid to beef up the security situation in Lagos State, Dangote Cement Plc has donated 35 fully equipped security operational vehicles to the State Government. Dangote Cement is a subsidiary of Dangote Industries, which was founded by Aliko Dangote in 1981 as a trading business with an initial focus on importation of bagged cement and other commodities such as rice, sugar, flour, salt and fish. The company is engaged in the manufacture, preparation, import, packaging, and distribution of cement and related products in Nigeria and has plants or import terminals in 9 other African countries.

Speaking during the presentation of the vehicles Mr Emmauel Ikhazobor, Non-Executive Director, Dangote Cement, who presented the vehicles to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), said the gesture was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, which was being done to support the efforts of the state Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to ensure security for the people and investments.

“We are presenting 35 saloon cars today to strengthen the operations of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund. We commend the government of the state for instituting a trust fund with the mandate of utilising donations from corporate bodies and individuals to equip the security agencies operating within the state.”, Ikhazobor stated.

Receiving the cars, the Executive Secretary, LSSTF, Dr Abdulrrazak Balogun, described the donation as a huge intervention from a private sector organisation, noting that it was aimed at easing critical challenges of logistics and mobility faced by the security personnel in the state. He expressed the appreciation of the state governor for the gesture and promised that the vehicles would be put to good use.

This is coming a few days after Dangote Cement also donated 25 operational cars, fully equipped with security features, to the Ogun Security Trust Fund (OSTF) also as part of its strategic Corporate Social Responsibility towards maintaining the security of lives and property.
