Dr Tayo Oyedeji
Dr Tayo Oyedeji is the Proud founder and Chief Executive Officer of Overwood, an investment firm making safe, high-yield investments accessible in Nigeria. With a proven track record of leading business/academic growth and development, Dr Tayo has over 20 years of corporate and academic experience spanning media advertising, finance, marketing and management consulting across Africa, Europe, and North America
Dr Tayo holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ilorin, a doctoral degree in Media Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia, USA and a Master of Business Administration in General Management from Oxford University.
He has worked in various sectors including consulting, Technology, advertising and most recently served as Regional Managing Director at Starcom Mediavest, South Africa and Head, Publicis Media Africa, where he managed over 700 employees in 34 different countries across the continent. He was also Managing Director of Media Perspectives, a digital-first integrated media solutions company.

Prior to Media Perspectives, Tayo was the General Manager /Chief Operating Officer at Credit Direct Limited, one of Nigeria’s top financial services company. There, he was responsible for managing the operation of about 1,500 employees in 50 branches across 24 states in Nigeria.
He was a one-time Director of Business Development at MediaReach OMD where he led the digital media business and was head of the Etisalat account service team. Tayo has worked for blue-chip clients like MTN, Intel, HP, Visa, Virgin, GlaxoSmithKline, Guinness and others.
With an interest in educational development, Dr Tayo was Assistant Professor of Media Management and Economics at the University of Georgia, the USA where he served three years. His research on branding and brand equity management has been published in reputable journals like the American Behavioral Scientists, the International Journal on Media Management and the Journal of Media Business Studies.
Beyond his corporate reach, Tayo uses social media to mentor and counsel young professionals as well as entrepreneurs on business management, financial independence, investment and early retirement. He has built an extended financial literacy model – the Big Eight Financial Formulae which he teaches in conferences around the world and has led various learning and networking events designed to teach the principles of personal finance, business networking and early retirement.
He is the author of the book “How I Retired at 40 and How you can Prepare for Early Retirement”. In his book, he clearly outlined the values and decisions that birthed the “early retirement myth”.
Dr Tayo is currently retired but works in non-profits while building his startup, Overwood. He Is passionately championing financial literacy and independence in Nigeria and beyond through Overwood and his financial literacy sessions.
