Nigerian Taekwondo athlete, Elizabeth Anyanacho, has increased Nigeria’s medal count at the ongoing 13th African Games in Ghana. The Olympian showcased her remarkable skills, delivering a masterful performance in a thrilling three-round bout against Africa’s top-ranked contender, Mohammed Aya of Egypt, and clinching the gold medal.

Anyanacho embarked on her journey to gold with an impressive win over W. Zaboure of Burundi in the quarter-final, displaying her exceptional talent and prowess on the mat. Undeterred, the 2019 African Games bronze medalist continued her winning streak in the semi-final, defeating Salih Sofia of Morocco in another hard-fought contest that lasted for three rounds.

In the highly anticipated final showdown, Anyanacho demonstrated her strategic prowess as she faced off against her formidable opponent, Mohammed Aya. Anyanacho faced an early setback in the first round, but she showed unwavering determination and staged an impressive comeback in both the second and third rounds.
