First Bank CEO, Dr. Adesola Adedutan Becomes Member of Bretton Woods Committee
Dr Adesola Adedutan, CEO, First Bank was recently honoured with the membership of the Bretton Woods Committee (BWC). Additionally, First Bank joined the Bretton Woods Committee as an organizational supporter in line with their commitment to demonstrate cooperation and facilitate global well-being.
The Bretton Woods membership which is by invitation and only extended to leading industry players from every region of the world was conferred to Dr Adesola in recognition of his excellent leadership qualities as well as his efforts in ensuring that First Bank Nigeria continues to drive financial inclusion in Africa.

Acknowledging his membership, Dr Adesola said,
“On behalf of the Board, Management, and staff of First Bank, I am deeply honoured to be recognized as a member of The Bretton Woods Committee. In addition, as a contributor, First Bank remains committed to the goals of the Bretton Woods Committee. This is especially at this time when the role played by business and political leaders is critical to exploring efficient ways of deepening collaboration and inclusion across borders whilst mitigating the adverse effects of the coronavirus on not just the global economy but on other aspects of the livelihood of every individual and household.”
In concluding, Dr Adesola further said,
“I look forward to working with other members of The Bretton Woods Committee as we continue to build on the successes achieved over the years. With these, we will make the world a better place.”
Dr Adesola is an alumnus of the University of Ibadan and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Cranfield University Business School, United Kingdom.
His experience spans over 25 years in the financial sector, working across various leadership positions.
Dr Adesola’s contribution towards advancing economic growth and development in Nigeria and Africa through his exceptional leadership traits are well known. Since this year, Dr Adesola has received various recognitions applauding him for his substantial contributions in Africa. He was conferred with the Cranfield Alumnus 2020 Award by Cranfield School of Management Alumni, The African Banking Personality of the Year 2019 by African Leadership Magazine and recently, Forbes Best of Africa Award, 2020.
The Bretton Woods Committee was founded in 1983 with a vision to create more awareness for the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organization and other major development banks. It boasts of over 650 members who are leaders at the top of business, academic and non-profit sectors. Membership also includes influencers from the world such as industry CEOs, international policymakers, former U.S officials and others.
