Folawe Omikunle
Folawe Omikunle is the Chief Executive Officer of Teach for Nigeria, a non-profit organization that recruits university graduates and working professionals to serve in Nigeria’s most underserved schools. Folawe’s passion for child education was fueled by her experience as a school administrator. With an interest in education and social development for children in marginalized communities, Folawe wanted to make education accessible. This led her to enroll at Modern Montessori International, London for a Diploma in Montessori Education.
Folawe Omikunle completed a bachelor’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from Babcock University, and a master’s degree from the Diplomatic Academy of London, University of Westminster.
Folawe started her career as a School Administrator at Kradle Academy, a Montessori preschool in Lagos, Nigeria. As an administrator, she was greatly influenced by Montessori teachings and the belief that all children have their unique potential. This made her realize that it is one of the best ways for Nigeria to reach its greatest potential through education and investment.

To contribute to the education sector in Nigeria beyond the school setting, Folawe joined the Association of Private Educators in Nigeria (APEN) in 2013, to access a platform that would enable her to improve the quality of education for marginalized children. She continued to develop her leadership skills until she joined Teach for Nigeria in 2015 as the Program Manager in its early stages. In 2016, she became the CEO, leading the planning, and development of the organization. She also cultivates relationships with key stakeholders and drives organizational development.
In recognition of her impact on education. Folawe was named among the 100 most influential young Nigerians in 2017, an honor that recognizes her experience and commitment to social development.
Folawe has dedicated her professional life to ensuring that one day, every Nigerian child will have access to quality education. We celebrate Folawe for making education accessible for marginalized children in Nigeria.
