As we have in our Weekly Hall of Fame, we recognize these innovative individuals changing the narrative in their respective industries and pushing the frontiers of excellence.

Eloho Omame is a Proud Recipient of the 2021 Les Margaret Africa Awards

Eloho Omame, Co-Founder of FirstCheck Africa and Mentor at Endeavor Nigeria was named among winners of the 2021 Les Margaret Africa Awards (Margaret Intrapreneur Africa). Eloho Omame is a mission-oriented business leader and angel investor, building an online community for ambitious career-oriented women living and working in Africa. Through FirstCheck Africa, a female-led, female-focused angel fund and investor community co-founded with Odunayo Eweniyi, Eloho Omame is helping African women in technology to rise above misrepresentation in the sector. She is making it easy for African women to raise capital and invest in technology. 

Temie Giwa-Tubosun, Ada Osakwe and Others Are Recipients of the Forbes Woman Africa Awards 2021

Amongst the unique African women honoured with the Forbes Woman Africa Awards, Temie Giwa-Tubosun, founder of LifeBank received the Technology and Innovation award while Ada Osakwe, an economist and founder of Agrolay Ventures received the Business Woman of the Year award.

Kunle Afolayan Secures Partnership Deal with Netflix to Produce Three New Original Feature Films

Nigeria’s leading director and film producer, Kunle Afolayan has secured a partnership deal with Netflix to produce and premiere three new diverse films – a historical drama, a folklore fantasy and a character drama. The three films will be set in Nigeria. 

Commander Kelechi Ndukwe Makes History as the First Nigerian to Take Command of a U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyer, USS HALSEY (DDG-97)

Kelechi Ndukwe, a U.S. Navy Commander makes Nigeria proud as he becomes the first Nigerian and Nigerian-American to take command of a U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyer, USS HALSEY (DDG-97). Commander Kelechi Ndukwe will officially take over on the 2nd of April 2021.

Faith Odunsi Wins the Global Open Mathematics Competition, Defeats UK, US, Chinese and other Students

Faith Odunsi, a 15-year-old secondary school student of The Ambassadors Schools, Otta, Ogun State recently set a new global record as she wins the Global Open Mathematics Tournament, an international Mathematics competition with participants from Africa, Europe, America, Australia and Asia. Faith Odunsi excelled over students from the United States, United Kingdom, China and other countries to win the top prize. 

Tope Omotolani Becomes the CEO of Crowdyvest

Tope Omotolani, who was Managing Director and co-founder takes on a new leadership position as the Chief Executive Officer of Crowdyvest. As the new CEO, Tope Omotolani is charged with fully transitioning the platform from its previous crowdfunding model into a fintech company that will contribute to the growth of a rising industry. Prior to being CEO and co-founder of Crowdyvest, Tope has founded and co-founded several startups including Farmcrowdy Limited.

Burna Boy Set to Perform at the 63rd Grammy Music Awards Premiere Ceremony

Burna Boy, one of Nigeria’s biggest and most successful singer is set to perform at the 63rd Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony, which will hold in March 2021. Burna Boy was nominated for the 2021 Grammy Awards for Best Global Music Album, Twice as Tall alongside international stars like Antibalas, Bebel Gilberto, Tinariwen and Anoushka Shankar. He was previously nominated for the 2020 Grammy Awards for Best World Music Album, (now renamed as Best Global Music Album) for his African Giant album.
