Ire Aderinokun

Ire Aderinokun is the first female Google developer expert and user interface designer in Nigeria. Her functions include leading the front-end team, managing operations and overseeing a bit of the business and finance side and making sure that her company is compliant with regulations.

Ire’s passion for technology started when she was 13. She built her first website; a Neopets fansite, and she mastered her first basic HTML codes at that age.

A self taught programmer, Ire did some online courses and read some blogs, then she started off freelancing for a while before she began working for an actual company.

Ire completed a bachelor’s degree in Experimental Psychology at the University of Bristol and a master’s degree in Law at the same university.

She took a design course at Code academy due to her interest in computer science.

Ire runs a blog called bitsofco.de, where she offers coding advice to fellow programmers. Also, she runs a tiny scholarship scheme to allow Nigerian women to take a Udacity nanodegree in a technology-related profession of their choice.

Ire is one of the founding members of the Feminist Coalition, a group of women with a mission to champion equality for women in Nigerian society.

Ire speaks at conferences worldwide, and she organizes Front Stack, a conference for frontend engineers in Nigeria. She has also written over a hundred technical articles on her blog, bitsofco.de.
