Israel Adesanya Knocks out Paulo Coasta to Retain UFC Middleweight Championship Title

The Nigerian-born mixed Martial Artist, Israel Adesanya has retained his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight title after his victory over Paulo Coasta, in the main event of the UFC 235 in Abu Dhabi. The undefeated champion moved to 20-0 while handing his challenger the first defeat of his career, with a drop to 13-1.

Israel Adesanya increased his undefeated record to 20 as he knocks out the previously-undefeated Brazilian, Paulo Coasta from the outset. At the start, Paulo Coasta opened the fight daringly, challenging Israel Adesanya to kick his lead leg by putting his hands behind his back. The middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya who stated before the fight that he could predict all Paulo Coasta’s moves preened back at Paulo Coasta, making sure to keep his distance while tagging him with kicks.

The highly-anticipated grudge match between the two undefeated fighters was quick to reveal the skilled difference between Israel Adesanya and his challenger.

Israel Adesanya got over 20 leg kicks in the opening round as he takes strategic moves to destabilize Paulo Coasta’s base. While Paulo Coasta landed some body kicks, his most attractive moment in the first round was visible when he taunted Israel Adesanya. He further beckoned on Israel Adesanya, who remained calm until the second round before he increased his output. The Middleweight Champion was no less swift in defeating his Brazilian challenger than he had been in predicting the fight-ending sequence, landing heavy fists on Paulo Coasta to earn him undefeated success.

Israel Adesanya’s victory is not limited to the UFC alone as he is the former Glory middleweight contender winner and King in the Ring Two-time Cruiserweight and Heavyweight Champion. Israel also ranks 4th position in the UFC men’s Pound-for-Pound rankings in May 2020 and is regarded as one of the best strikers in mixed martial arts. 

Israel was one time an Interim UFC Middleweight Champion and won the best performance of the night five times. He also won the Fight of the Night award twice and the most knockdowns in a UFC Title Fight about four times. In addition, Israel was one-time Australian Fighting Championship (AFC) Middleweight Champion and was once the Hex Fighting Series Middleweight Champion.
