Kari Tukur
Kari Tukur is the Vice President of products at MasterCard, Sub-Saharan Africa, where she oversees the in-market product strategy across multiple countries within the region. She specializes in retail banking, strategy development and execution in international markets. Kari Tukur is our WCW today. Kari Tukur exudes a passion and enthusiasm for her work and ensures that she critically delivers all aspects of her portfolio. She constantly works to proffer valuable solutions to challenges at work and in the global space.

Kari holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems at Sheffield Hallam University, where she graduated with first-class with honours in 2007 and a master’s degree in International Marketing at the University of Birmingham, graduating with distinctions. She has also boosted her career with various courses in the areas of Marketing, Business and Information Systems Strategy, Database Engineering, Cross-Cultural Communication and more. She is a Simon Evans scholarship awardee and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Kari’s expertise spans Africa retail banking and consumer markets, Strategic planning, market research and segmentation, Project management, market analytics and consumer insights, customer value proposition, customer value proposition development and execution as well as customer retention strategies. She has worked across various leadership capacities, contributing positively to different organizations.
Prior to becoming VP MasterCard, Kari was Country Head of Consumer Banking and Privilege (wealth) at the Defunct Diamond Bank PLC in March 2018. One of her achievements was the Diamond Exclusive plus initiative which brought productivity and high returns to the target customers and the bank. However, after the merger with Access Bank PLC, Kari became the Group Head, Consumer Banking. In her role, she was responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with consumer banking customers.
Kari worked at Standard Chartered Bank from 2015 to 2018 as Head, Retail Products and Digital Banking. Her responsibilities included retail liabilities, personal loans, mortgage, credit card, trade and working capital book. Earlier at Standard Chartered Bank, she was Head, Personal and Preferred Banking, Nigeria. Kari was responsible for formulating, aligning, and executing the country strategic agenda for personal and preferred banking with the purpose of maximizing growth, market share and profitability of the segments.
In another leadership capacity, she was appointed Head of Personal Banking, Products and Strategy at Stanbic IBTC Bank from 2010 to 2012. At Stanbic IBTC, Kari interpreted customer feedbacks in order to redesign, develop and implement new products that will satisfy the needs of existing customers.
