Nigeria Officially Launches New Visa Policy.
President Muhammadu Buhari officially launched the Nigerian Visa Policy 2020, at the statehouse, Abuja on the 4th of February, 2020.
The new policy is created to enable economic growth and development. The new visa plan has 79 classes that support all aspects of entry into Nigeria. The new policy is based on cooperation, flexibility and national interest.
Recall that in November 2019, the president announced that a new policy of visa on arrival would be granted to all African travelers starting from January 2020. During the Aswan Forum in Egypt.
He stated: “We in Nigeria have already taken the strategic decision to bring down barriers that have hindered the free movement of our people within the continent by introducing the issuance of a visa at the point of entry into Nigeria to all persons holding passports of African countries with effect from January 2020.”

Following the decree, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) rolled out a new Visa-on- Arrival Application Process for all Business Travelers and African Union Countries, except for ECOWAS member countries.
The new policy permits Africans with valid passports who intend to come into Nigeria for short visits, businesses, and tourism.
